Long
before the dawn of written history, humans inhabited the banks
of the Cumberland and Red Rivers. Clarksville was founded at
the convergence of those two bodies of water in 1784. The river
served as the catalyst for economic and community development
for Clarksville-Montgomery County for decades... and continues
to serve in that capacity today. The Clarksville River District
Commission recognizes the importance of honoring the city's
river heritage. The Commission works to create an atmosphere
that attracts citizens and visitors alike to celebrate the river's
sites and sounds through festivals and events, historic displays,
and focused development. |
